Kohima, Jan 31: The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Shri Tapan Kumar Bose, a renowned documentary filmmaker, human rights defender, and tireless advocate for justice and peace. In a heartfelt statement, the federation extended condolences to his family during this difficult time.

According to the NSF’s statement, Tapan Bose dedicated his life to combating injustice, violence, and inequality. His strong commitment to human rights and his bold opposition to oppression resonated throughout South Asia and beyond. As both a filmmaker and an activist, Bose was part of a collective of intellectuals, journalists, and artists who worked to uphold rationalist ideals while challenging historical and modern-day forms of subjugation.

The NSF emphasized that Bose’s work had a profound impact on communities that bore the brunt of jingoistic nationalism and militarization. For these communities, Bose was more than just an ally—he was a friend, a guide, and a source of immense support. His advocacy extended beyond words, with his presence and solidarity strengthening the struggles of those fighting for dignity and freedom.

Particularly notable for the Naga people, Bose’s unwavering support for their right to self-determination will be remembered. In a world where many chose to ignore their plight, he was one of the few who listened, amplified their voices, and stood with them in their pursuit of justice. The statement highlighted that his dedication to the cause of the marginalized and dispossessed, as well as his opposition to capitalist exploitation of land and resources, made him a key ally in their ongoing fight.
