On June 10, the Naga Students’ Union, Chandel (NSUC), felicitated the meritorious students of the district who cleared the recent exams conducted by BOSEM, CoHSEM, and CBSE with distinction. The program was held at the Chamdil Town Hall, Panchai in Chandel district under the theme, “To educate, to enable and to empower.”

Individuals from the district who excelled in sports and received medals (gold, silver, or bronze) at the national and state level were also felicitated.

Attended by hundreds of students from various schools in the district, along with their teachers and principals, the program also saw the presence of presidents and executive members of the federating units of the NSUC.

Welcoming the gathering, NSUC president Ruwnglar Elly Anal congratulated all the students and appreciated the principals and teachers for their efforts in helping the students achieve distinctions. He also encouraged the students to aim high and achieve their goals with hard work, dedication, and sincerity.

As the chief guest, Mayanglambam Rajkumar, IAS, DC, Chandel, called on the students to remain meek and humble despite their success. “If you let your success go to your head, you’ll eventually fail,” he warned the students. He also urged the students to remove all fears and apprehensions about the future and face it bravely.

The DC also informed that an IT centre would be opened soon at the DC building, where 50 computers would be available for online-related work such as filling out forms and taking exams. He further mentioned that talks are ongoing with the National Informatics Centre (NIC) to register about five schools from the district to monitor the institutions and help improve them.

Y. Hemchandra Singh, ZEO, Chandel district, as the functional president, provided information on the percentage of successful students in the district compared to last year, stating that 97.08 percent of those who appeared for the Class X exams cleared them this year, while 95.60 percent of Class XII students also cleared, both percentages being higher than last year. He also highlighted the awards given by the government for state and district toppers.

Dr. Th. Joyson Mathew Monsang, CMO, Chandel, called on students to cultivate values that will help them progress in their lives. He also advised leading a healthy lifestyle, as it would lead to a healthy future, healthy production, and healthy development. He then encouraged them to choose a career they love so that it would not feel like work.

Molightson Kanshouwa Maring, who recently cleared the UPSC with an AIR of 870, also congratulated and encouraged the students, sharing five points of success: always ask God before doing any work, aim high, face challenges boldly, never give up, and never compete or compare with others but rather with oneself.

ANSAM vice president Wilpelngam Nula also congratulated the students, stating that the educational system is improving in the district but there is still room for growth. He challenged the students to help this materialize while adding that support is needed from frontal organizations, CSOs, student bodies, parents, and teachers.
