Boxer Lovina Borgohain of Assam clinched Bronze medal in welterweight boxing semifinals despite her loss to Turkish boxer, Busenaz Sürmeneli, 5-0 on Wednesday.

With this win, Lovina Borgohain becomes the second Indian women boxer to win a medal in the Olympics and the third to win a medal for India in the ongoing Tokoyo Olympics 2020, wining the hearts of Indians for bringing laurels to the nation.

Prime Minister Narendara Modi was all praise for the Indian boxer. “Her success in the boxing ring inspires several Indians. Her tenacity and determination are admirable.”

Chief Minister of Assam, Himanta Biswa Sarma said on twitter, “Lovlina Borgohai’s feat is special in many ways and is a testimony to your constant motivation. Her success is deeply cherished & hugely honoured.”

Himanta Sarma also replied to Prime Minister’s congratulatory tweet to Lovina and said “Your words of appreciation and encouragement mean a lot Adarniya PM Sri Narendra Modi.”
