Naga Students Union, Delhi Appeals for International Intervention in Protracted Indo-Naga Political

New Delhi, September 8: The Naga Students Union, Delhi (NSUD) has extended its warm greetings to the esteemed G20 delegates hailing from various states and organizations as the G20 Summit commences in New Delhi. However, amidst this global gathering of leaders, NSUD has voiced a pressing concern, emphasizing the need for a just and acceptable solution to the long-standing Indo-Naga political conflict.

In a heartfelt appeal to the international community, NSUD has urged for immediate intervention in resolving the protracted Indo-Naga political issue, which has far-reaching implications for peace and stability in Southeast Asia. This conflict, deeply rooted in historical grievances and identity, has endured for over seven decades, inflicting significant human suffering, displacement, and loss of life.

The Naga people have persistently sought recognition for their unique cultural and political identity, yet despite decades of negotiations, a final agreement has remained elusive. This deadlock is not just a concern for the parties directly involved but also poses a broader regional and global threat to peace and stability in Southeast Asia, while challenging the principles of self-determination and conflict resolution cherished by the international community.

In a passionate plea, NSUD has called upon the international community to play an active role in facilitating a peaceful and just resolution to the Indo-Naga political talks. The union has specifically urged for mediation and facilitation between the two parties, the exertion of international pressure on the Indian government during the G20 Summit meetings to address the Naga political conflict, and the establishment of an international oversight mechanism to monitor and ensure accountability in the progress of negotiations.

Recognizing the international community’s wealth of experience and expertise in conflict resolution and mediation, NSUD believes that this involvement can offer innovative perspectives and methods to break the negotiation deadlock. It emphasizes the importance of both parties committing to upholding international norms, including respect for human rights, democracy, and the rule of law in any future agreement.

The Naga Students Union, Delhi, is firmly convinced that these efforts can pave the way for a brighter and more peaceful future for all parties involved. A just and lasting solution, if achieved, would not only bring enduring peace to the Naga region but also contribute to the stability and prosperity of Northeast India as a whole.

In conclusion, NSUD has called upon international actors to serve as impartial mediators, facilitating constructive dialogue between the Government of India and Naga representatives. The union’s appeal echoes the urgent need to resolve this conflict, emphasizing that it’s not just a local issue but a matter of global significance, impacting the larger quest for peace and stability in Southeast Asia.
