UKHRUL: The Eastern Command Naga Village Guard (NVG-EC) has reported that its patrol team came under heavy attack allegedly by Kuki National Army-Burma (KNA-B) militants and Village Volunteers of Eastern Zone (VVEZ) near Huimin Thana along the Indo-Myanmar border under Kamjong sub-division on October 15.
In a press statement issued by its Media Cell on Friday, NVG-EC said the incident occurred at around 4.30 pm when its personnel were on patrol duty in the area. The NVG-EC claimed its team retaliated in self-defence and repelled the heavily armed attackers following an exchange of fire that lasted about an hour.

According to the statement, a civilian defence volunteer of NVG-EC sustained grievous injuries and was rescued with assistance from local residents. He was taken to Kamjong District Hospital for treatment. The organisation also claimed that the attackers suffered casualties, although it did not provide details.
NVG-EC said the incident was part of a series of attacks on Tangkhul Naga villages along the border, which it alleged had continued since an incident of external aggression on May 7, 2026, affecting Z. Choro, Wanglee and Namlee villages.
The organisation further alleged that a combined group of KNA-B and VVEZ members shot dead four villagers at Pilong on September 24 and two civilians at Ningchou on October 10.

Expressing concern over the security situation in border villages under Kamjong district, NVG-EC accused the government and concerned authorities of failing to protect residents despite repeated attacks. It claimed the violence had resulted in the deaths of six Naga civilians, besides damage to residential houses and other properties in different villages.
The NVG-EC warned against further attacks and said it remained committed to protecting Naga land, people and identity. It also called on Naga youths to remain united amid what it described as a grave threat to the community.
