Nagaland and Assam Undertake Joint Eviction Drive in DAB

Kohima, August 21: An official communique issued by the office of the Chief Secretary of Nagaland today stated that the Government of Nagaland and the Government of Assam have undertaken a joint eviction drive to remove illegal immigrants from the Disputed Area Belt (DAB).

Following the eviction, plantation activities carried out in the area by Assam led to tensions in the border region. To address the matter, the Chief Minister of Nagaland and the Chief Minister Assam held discussions and agreed that all activities in the DAB, including plantation, will be undertaken jointly by the two states, the statement also said.

This joint decision reflects the commitment of both the governments to maintaining peace and cooperation in the border areas, it added.
