Nagaland Chamber Choir wins big in South Korea; made State and India proud: CM Neiphiu Rio

Kohima: The 30-member Nagaland Chamber Choir has made the state proud wining 2 gold medals at the 12th World Choir Games held in Gangneung, South Korea from July 3 to 13, 2023. TNCC bagged the golds in Mixed Chamber Choirs and Musica Contemporanea Choral Mixed Voices categories.

The 11 days World Choir Games 2023, according to the organiser, displayed incredible choral music and cultural celebration participated by an estimated 324 participating groups and participants from a total of 46 countries and regions including jury and the World Choir Council members live on site.

The WCG 2023 that concludes at Gangneung on July 13 feature a range of events, including choral competitions, Opening and Closing Ceremonies, Parade of Nations, General Conference of the World Choir Council, and workshops held at various locations in Gangneung, such as the Gangneung Arena and the Gangneung Art Center, according to INTERKURTUL.

Chief minister Neiphiu Rio took to twitter to congratulate TNCC saying, “You have made Nagaland and India proud.”

TNCC is the only choir from India to qualify to compete at the World Choir Games 2023 Gangneung. TNCC was led by Hito Kiho as the choir conductor. The stellar performance from the Nagaland state’s choir placed them directly to the Grand Pix Finale in the international choral music competition.

Task Force for Music & Arts (TaFMA), Nagaland’s government initiative to promote talents in arts and music sector took to twitter and congratulated TNCC on the backdrop of the choir receiving the prestigious awards in an international event.

On behalf of the entire music and arts fraternity of Nagaland TaFMA congratulates all members of the TNCC for the fantastic performance and achievement. “Dreams are meant to be fulfilled and impossible is nothing,” wrote TaFMA.
