Nagaland Chief Minister and others go into quarantine

NNN | DIMAPUR, JULY 16: Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton and two ministers have gone into quarantine after returning from New Delhi on Thursday. They returned to the State from Delhi on separate occasions.

“As a precautionary measure, I’m on self-quarantine on my return to Nagaland from Delhi. Taking precautions to ensure safety of others & myself,” the Chief Minister said on Twitter on Thursday.

However, the Chief Minister said he would carry out his duties even though he is under quarantine.

Neiphiu Rio had gone to the national capital for some official works while others had gone to Delhi for some other purposes.

Nagaland Deputy Chief Minister Y Patton, Health minister and Family Welfare Minister, Pangnyu Phom and PHED Minister, Jacob Zhimomi have gone into institutional quarantine in Dimapur after returning from New Delhi.

Meanwhile, the State recorded 14 new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday. The State also reported 43 recovered cases of COVID-19 during the same period.

“Out of 286 samples tested, 14 positive cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed,” informed Nagaland Health minister S Pangnyu Phom. According to him, Dimapur reported 12 cases of COVID-19 and Kohima recorded 2 cases of the diseases.

As of now, Nagaland has recorded 916 cases of COVID-19 in total. With 391 recovered cases of COVID-19, the number of State’s active cases stands at 525.
