In her Presidential address, P. Delilah Pao expressed deep appreciation for the presence of the dignitaries and delegates, stating that the gathering was not merely in response to an invitation but “a calling, to serve, to stand firm, and to protect what we believe is right for our community.” Reflecting on her tenure, she described it as “a roller-coaster, filled with unexpected challenges, misunderstandings and trials that tested our endurance.” She acknowledged moments of emotional and organisational strain, recalling “nights of silence, of prayer, of self-doubt,” but thanked leaders, unit members and well-wishers who stood by her during difficult times.
Extending reconciliation to those who differed from her leadership, she urged, “Let our experiences become lessons, not divisions,” and called for unity to ensure that no woman walks a path of hardship alone. She encouraged women to build not only an organisation but a family rooted in truth, respect and solidarity, expressing hope that the conference would renew relationships and strengthen future generations.
Delivering his address, Temjen Imna Along thanked Almighty God and conveyed greetings from Nagaland. Praising the cultural performances, he described the event as a true celebration of identity and community spirit. Congratulating the women, he remarked, “You are the epitome not only of beauty, but of strength, resilience, and above all, commitment,” highlighting their dedication to family, community and faith. He noted that the silent sacrifices of mothers often go unnoticed yet form the backbone of strong families and societies.

Describing the conference as “a restoration and a recommitment,” he stressed that despite geographical divisions between states, “we are one people, the Nagas.” In a candid reflection, he admitted that he once held misconceptions about Nagas living across state boundaries but realised he was mistaken after personally visiting Naga-inhabited areas. “I was wrong. We are one people,” he affirmed, urging the gathering not to allow fragmented thinking to divide the community. He also acknowledged the contributions of Dr. Ato, describing him as a change-maker, not only in politics but in healthcare service.
Referring to initiatives undertaken under the leadership of Neiphiu Rio in Nagaland, he noted that hundreds of free medical and surgical camps have been conducted in remote villages, benefiting many people, especially women. He encouraged continued unity and preservation of culture, cautioning that a people who fail to protect their heritage risk losing their vision for future progress.
In her address, Mamoni Doley emphasised that women constitute half of society and must actively participate in socio-cultural, economic and political processes. “No issue can be resolved without the participation of women,” she stated, urging greater involvement in leadership and community decision-making. She stressed the importance of quality education for every girl child, describing it as the foundation for empowerment and informed participation.
Highlighting concerns in maternal healthcare, she noted low institutional delivery rates in the district and called for greater awareness and collective efforts to improve women’s health outcomes. She further encouraged women to explore economic opportunities, strengthen Self Help Groups and share successful business models to promote financial independence. Emphasising mutual support, she remarked that women must walk the extra mile for one another to build a stronger and more empowered society.
Different Cultural items including enchantment while farming, traditional bark spinning demonstration, cultural dances, indigenous craft demonstration of Poumai earthen pottery, folk songs and traditional attire show were showcased during the program.
The conference continues with various sessions and events, including the much-anticipated Mrs. Poumai Pageant scheduled for later tonight.
