Nagas Will Forgive Only If GoI is Willing to Rebuild Broken Trust: Nagalim Voice

DIMAPUR: Accusing the Government of India of betraying the Nagas on several occasions, the NSCN-IM news bulletin Nagalim Voice, in its latest edition, has said that the “double-dealing duplicity and deceitful policy as shown by India is like ‘Judas kiss let-down’”.

The NSCN-IM bulletin said though betrayal by India may have shattered Nagas’ faith in India “but it would not shatter the faith of the Nagas believing that there is God who decides everything on earth”.

Nagalim Voice also stated, “When we talk about the historic Framework Agreement signed between the Government of India and NSCN on August 3, 2015, with the commitment to solve the Naga political issue, we cannot help making the conclusion that betrayal that has taken place again is like a deep knife wound that will take time to heal because Nagas have been flattered again”.

The NSCN-IM bulletin further said that forgiveness from the Nagas would come only when there is willingness on the part of the Government of India to rebuild the broken trust.

“However, though betrayal by India may have shattered our faith in India, it would not shatter the faith of the Nagas believing that there is God who decides everything on earth. The fight for political justice based on the historical truth of the Nagas will continue. The spirit of resilience will never depart from the Nagas”, it added.

According to the NSCN-IM bulletin, betraying the Nagas by India is nothing new “as we look back into the history of Indo-Naga political conflicts during the past 75 years of Naga political movement”. It added by saying, “We only have to learn lessons out of this well conceived betrayal by India”. The bulletin also said those Nagas who deliberately ignored such devilish traps are party to the sinister designs indulged by India because the party to betrayal group is intertwined with corruption and thereby inflicting socio political injustice.

The NSCN-IM bulletin then said Nine-Point Agreement, 16-Point Memorandum or Shillong Accord are all recorded by the Nagas as acts of betrayal to the Naga political issue. It further said these are more than enough for the Naga people to learn lessons.

“Today the Government of India is going the way of the past history to betray the Nagas again given the fact that Framework Agreement that was given a high profile political signing ceremony and live -telecast to make the world as the witness is being put in the cold storage”, it stated.

The already shattered fundamental confidence of the Nagas on the Government of India after witnessing how the Framework Agreement was handled has only created betrayal trauma forcing the NSCN who spearheaded the signing of the Framework Agreement on behalf of the Nagas to take the stand to continue the Naga political movement putting more energy and resources as demanded by the oppressive situation, the bulletin also said.
