Observation of National Road Safety Month Along Mao-Senapati Stretch Held

SENAPATI: The District Transport Office (DTO) under Senapati District Administration on Tuesday observed the National Road Safety Month along NH-2 between Mao-Senapati stretch in collaboration with District Police. During the observation, Red reflective tapes were pasted for Heavy commercial vehicles, local auto rickshaws, local taxis, Sumos, inter state buses & wingers plying along the highway. 

The DTO & police team led by Additional SP (Highway) Kaisungbou and IPS probation officer Shivin also distributed pamphlets to drivers for road safety and safe driving while educating them with DOs and DON’Ts. It also distributed Helmets to those two wheeler drivers who were caught without helmets and educated them about the hazards of driving without helmet before letting them free. The team also organised a poster campaign on Road safety.

According to District Transport Officer (DTO) Joseph D Sangkhil, as part of the month-long observance, the District Administration, CMO & DTO will also organize a Free Medical Eyes examination on Thursday at District Hospital Senapati. The free eye camp under the theme ” Road safety, Lives safety” and “Clear vision Saves Lives” is to promote good vision for safe driving to save lives, Joseph Sangkhil stated. 

He also informed that, during the month-long campaign, the joint team will check seat belt negligence, driving without helmet, drink & drive, violation of traffic rules and other violations under Motor vehicles Act.
