NDPP holds Consultative Meet; draws emphasis on Naga political aspirations

Kohima: The Central Youth Organisation of the Nationalist Democratic Progressive Party (NDPP) held a joint consultative meeting on November 12, at the NDPP central office, with Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Chairman of IDAN, and Secretary General of NDPP, as the guest speaker.

In his address, Abu Metha explained the formation of the NDPP in response to a need for a new political party that would address the aspirations and unique needs of the people of Nagaland.

He highlighted the party’s commitment to justice, development, and inclusive growth, with a strong emphasis on bringing peace to Nagaland, especially in addressing the long-standing Naga political aspirations. 

Metha reaffirmed that the NDPP aims for a peaceful, lasting solution to the Naga issue through dialogue and negotiations with various stakeholders, including the Government of India and Naga groups, respecting the rights, identity, and aspirations of the Naga people.
He also praised the youth of Nagaland for their remarkable achievements in arts, sports, and music, which have brought great pride to the state both nationally and internationally.

Additionally, Metha spoke about the Chief Minister’s Microfinance Initiative (CMMFI), which has helped promote economic self-reliance and supported small entrepreneurs in the state, particularly in rural areas by offering access to affordable credit.

Abu Metha further emphasized the importance of the concept of an opposition-less government in Nagaland, which has fostered unity by bringing together major political parties to focus on a shared agenda for the state.

He also discussed the potential of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to positively impact society in various fields, urging the responsible use of AI to ensure transparency, fairness, and ethical considerations. 

He cautioned against the spread of misinformation and negativity on social media, advocating for critical thinking and fact-checking to make social media a platform for constructive dialogue and positive contributions.

The event featured speeches by regional youth leaders, including Imtichoba (President of Tuensang Region Youth Organization), Amos Odyuo (President of Wokha Region Youth Organization), and Toshi Longkumer (President of Dimapur Region Youth Organization). The event was chaired by Vichosel Rhutso, the vice president, with an invocation prayer by Zakevi Kesen, Assistant Pastor of the Rengma Baptist Church in Kohima. Lhouvi Punyu, the working president, delivered the welcome address, and a special performance was presented by Phangmei Yanlem Konyak. 

Kelhounieu Thernuo, General Secretary (Admin) shared the general secretary report and the vote of thanks was given by Mixishe Zhimo, the secretary.

This meeting highlighted the NDPP’s commitment to unity, development, and innovation, fostering positive change for Nagaland through responsible governance, technological advancement, and social harmony.
