The protests erupted to vent frustration over corruption, unemployment, and in response to the government’s controversial decision to ban social media platforms, a move that sparked outrage across the country.
In a dramatic escalation, protesters set fire to KP Oli’s private residence in Balkot earlier on Tuesday, further intensifying calls for his resignation, per reports.
The government, facing mounting unrest, reversed the social media ban late Monday night in an attempt to quell the protests.
