NIT Manipur, in its statement said that the decision was taken to ensure a fair and impartial inquiry, noting that the officer’s continued presence in office could potentially influence the investigation.

The suspended official has been barred from leaving the station without written permission and will be entitled to subsistence allowance as per government rules. “He will continue to remain under the administrative control of the Director, NIT Manipur, during the suspension period,” it stated.

The institute clarified that the suspension is a procedural measure and does not constitute a final determination of guilt. Further action will be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965, the institute stated, adding that officials from the Ministry of Education and the NIT Manipur administration have been notified of the order.
