Kohima, September 24: The Naga People’s Front (NPF) has expressed “the strongest condemnation of the death threat and derogatory statements directed against Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu, respected women’s leader” and Adviser to the Naga Mothers’ Association (NMA).

Dr. Rosemary is also co-convenor of Global Naga Forum (GNF).

The NPF termed it as “cowardly acts” and said that both the death threat and the online derogatory remarks are a direct assault on the dignity of Naga women and on the democratic values that allow every citizen to speak, organize, and advocate for reform. The NPF then said it viewed such behaviour as not only morally unacceptable but also a serious criminal offence under the Indian Penal Code and the Information Technology Act, which prohibit online harassment, threats, and hate speech.

The NPF then urged the State Government, law-enforcement authorities, and the Cyber Crime Police to take swift and decisive action to trace the origin of the threatening and defamatory posts, register an FIR without delay, prosecute those responsible under the law, and ensure adequate protection for Dr. Dzuvichu and other women activists who are facing intimidation. “Such prompt action will send a clear message that the rule of law stands above fear and coercion”, it added.

The NPF then said allowing such criminal intimidation to go unchecked will embolden those who seek to silence women’s voices and undermine hard-won progress in Nagaland. “Our party stands in full solidarity with Dr. Rosemary Dzuvichu and the Naga Mothers’ Association and assures that such acts of cowardice will never dampen the collective spirit for justice and equality”, the NPF also stated.
