Kohima, September 5: Amid media reports that the “merger of Naga People’s Front (NPF) and the Nationalist Democratic People’s Party (NDPP) is already making headway”, the NPF will be holding its Central Executive Council (CEC) meeting on September 6 in Kohima.

According to the NPF, the meeting will be held at NPF Central Hall in Kohima. The party further disclosed that senior party leaders, NPF legislators, state unit NPF presidents, and ‘distinguished personalities’ will participate in the meeting. However, the NPF source did not disclose the agenda of the September 6 meeting.

It can be mentioned here that a Dimapur based newspaper had reported today that things have been already worked out for both the regional parties to merge. The NDPP “has already cleared the decks to effect the merger, while the NPF has also moved towards paving the way for the unification of the two regional parties”, Nagaland Post reported. The daily newspaper, quoting a source, further reported that the “merger was aimed at consolidating regional political strength”.
