NPP Manipur spokesperson Jaya Khangembam made the statement during a press conference at the party’s state office in Mantripukhri on Saturday, stressing that the case must be dealt with in accordance with established institutional procedures and the rule of law.

According to Jaya, the matter was reportedly being examined by Jawaharlal Nehru University’s (JNU) Internal Committee, while the MP was pursuing legal remedies. She said the ongoing inquiry and legal proceedings should be allowed to take their course without unnecessary speculation or conclusions being drawn in advance.

The spokesperson clarified that the party’s appeal for restraint should not be viewed as indifference to the issue. She maintained that fairness and accountability must be upheld for everyone involved in the case.

Jaya also urged political parties to exercise caution in their public statements on matters involving ongoing inquiries, stressing that the independence of the institutions concerned must be respected.
