NSCN-IM clarifies on Pan Naga Hoho

Amidst heightened speculations and comments on the Naga political issue, the NSCN-IM has stated today that the Pan Naga Hoho when concretized will take into account the social, cultural, literature, identity and interests of the Nagas.

In a statement issued to media houses by the Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP) of the organisation, the NSCN-IM said that, of late, cross sections of people and groups are fussing about the power of the chairman of the Pan Naga Hoho in the media.

According to the NSCN-IM, the irony is that the Pan Naga Hoho is a topic that does not warrant wild speculation. “Because, it is still in incubation stage and one need not go for panic reactions,” it also stated. The NSCN-IM further said that such a subject of “critical importance that concerns the Nagas is something that would not be processed in a damning hurry”.

According to the NSCN-IM, when the Pan Naga Hoho, “as conceived by Government of India and mutually discussed and accepted by NSCN taking into consideration the necessity to have such umbrella set up for the larger unity and welfares of the Nagas living in different regions passed through the critical stage of political scrutiny it would naturally come out in the open”.

However, the NSCN-IM also said that the Pan Naga Hoho does not undermine any democratic political institution as perceived by others. “Such a widely diffused view is unfounded,” it further stated. “The irony of the situation is apparent to everyone. Things are moving too slow. However, the Pan Naga Hoho when concretized will take into account the social, cultural, literature, identity and interests of the Nagas. Till then the less fuss made about it the better,” the NSCN-IM added.
