NSCN-IM suspends its leader over arrest with arms; says ‘Illegal arms business highest of crimes’

Dimapur: Over the arrest of one Apam alias Ngathingpam Shimrah, a deputy kilonser of the NSCN-IM by the army while ferrying huge quantity of ammunition and weapons allegedly for warring groups in conflict-torn Manipur state, the NSCN-IM has issued a statement on Friday.

“The arrest of Dy. Kilonser Apam alias Ngathingpam Shimrah from Wung Tangkhul Region(WTR) in connection with illegal arms trafficking in collusion with one Nagaland Police Inspector has come as a rude shock to NSCN,” the group said.

While clarifying that the group consider “illegal arms and ammunition business as one of the highest crimes as per NSCN disciplinary code,” NSCN-IM in the statement said it has placed Dy. Kilonser Nathingpam Shimrah under suspension for an indefinite period for violation of Party Disciple Article 4(c) and Article 5 (a).
