Ukhrul, October 21: The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung group) has issued a statement condemning what it described as a “cowardly Indian drone attack” on Khenmoi-Loiyi village under East Konyak Region on Monday evening, which it claimed left two civilians dead and four others seriously injured.
According to the NSCN-YA, the victims included a 27-year-old man and an eight-year-old girl. The outfit termed the incident a “flagrant violation of international laws” and a “heinous crime against humanity,” alleging it was a deliberate attack on civilians.
“This violent attack exposes India’s complete disregard for human life, which we consider a clear act of genocide against the Naga people,” the statement said.
The NSCN-YA also alleged that this was the second such drone attack on Naga civilians this year, citing a previous incident on July 13. It warned that such actions had made civilians vulnerable and accused New Delhi of pursuing “expansionist politics and a terrorist mentality.”

Calling for international intervention, the group urged global human rights bodies and civil society organisations to take action and hold India accountable. It also appealed to all Naga civil societies and citizens to condemn the attack.
“Through collective strength, Nagas will resist India’s domination and exploitation and must never renounce our freedom,” it added.
The statement further cautioned that continued military aggression against Naga revolutionaries and civilians could provoke a stronger response.
Expressing solidarity with the victims, the NSCN-YA conveyed condolences to the families of those killed and wished a speedy recovery for the injured.
