Pune, July 19: The Naga Students’ Union Pune (NSUP) has issued a public appeal warning Naga youth and families across Nagaland, Manipur, and Assam against falling prey to fraudulent job offers and exploitative work environments.
The union noted that many Naga youth, in their pursuit of employment outside the region, have become victims of illegal businesses and unverified job offers, often resulting in serious consequences including police raids and life-threatening situations. The appeal emphasized that one of the main causes is the lack of proper awareness and due diligence, with many relying solely on peer recommendations without verifying the legitimacy of jobs, companies, or recruiters.

The NSUP urged families and community leaders to provide proper guidance before sending youth to unfamiliar cities. It recommended that individuals planning to come to Pune for work, education, or other purposes should first contact the union for verification and support.
As part of its Job and Welfare Awareness Drive, NSUP will assist in confirming job legitimacy, finding safe opportunities, and providing protection through proper registration with the union. The appeal highlighted repeated cases involving unverified BPOs, wellness centers, and spa placements where youth were misled by promises of easy jobs and high pay.
The union stated that this initiative welcomes all Nagas, regardless of tribe or background, and called on other Naga and Northeast student unions across India to carry forward the mission in their respective cities.
