Number of dengue cases in Manipur’s Moreh town surges to 100

There were reports of detection of dengue cases in Thoubal, Imphal West and other districts.

Moreh: The total number of persons diagnosed with dengue rose to 100 on Monday in Manipur’s border town.

Official reports said that the rise in the mosquito borne disease in the border town happened amid the intensified measures being taken up by the special unit of Tengnoupal district malaria office.

Noting seriously the rapid rise in the dengue cases, officials of the Health Department led by State Malaria Officer Dr Rahman has rushed to the town.

The team is directly supervising the measures like fogging and spraying Larvicite in areas where fresh cases were detected, official sources said.

However, for the current year, it was reported in the state only when a total of 22 persons from Chingmeirong area of Imphal East district were diagnosed with the disease.

There were reports of detection of dengue cases in Thoubal, Imphal West and other districts as well.

However, there were no reports of further spread of the disease in other places except in Moreh town.
