Senapati, June 3: Culminating in the government office picketing called by the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM) on Tuesday, the apex Naga student body expressed gratitude to all concerned for their unwavering support and cooperation towards the successful launch of its agitation in a democratic manner.

In a press release issued from its office, ANSAM stated that the day marked the successful conclusion of the government office picketing in the Naga hill districts, organized by the All Naga Students’ Association, Manipur (ANSAM), protesting and expressing the Naga people’s resentment against the scrapping of the Free Movement Regime (FMR) and the construction of imposed border fencing in the Naga homeland.
“We are ending the office picketing today, but our people’s movement will continue until there is a complete stoppage of border fencing and reinstatement of the FMR in our homeland,” ANSAM stated.

In a strong and united display of civil resistance, the Association, along with its constituent units and subordinate units, supported by the United Naga Council (UNC), Naga Women’s Union (NWU), concerned organizations, activists, and well-wishers, successfully demonstrated a peaceful office picketing for two days (June 2 & June 3, 2025) across all Naga hill districts, opposing the Government’s decision to scrap the FMR on February 8, 2024, and the construction of a fencing wall that threatens the foundational right to free movement.

ANSAM mentioned that the overwhelming support it received underscored the deep public concern over attempts to isolate communities through artificial border fencing.

The Association expressed its deepest appreciation to all constituent and subordinate units, volunteers, participants, the general public, and the media fraternity for their unwavering support towards the Association’s endeavor to resist the sinister policy of the Government of India to further divide the Nagas.
