Chandel: One Day Capacity Building Programme For Women Traders of Japhou Bazar, Chandel District, sponsored by National Commission For Women was held on Friday at Ng Mono Monsang Memorial Hall, Japhou Chandel District organized by Manipur State Commission For Women.

Salam Ulka Devi Chairperson, Manipur State Commission for Women and MSCW members Th Tiningpham Monsang, Lourembam Dayavati Devi and T Chuongsin Koireng along with Md Firoj Khan, MCS, Additional Deputy Commisioner Chandel and Seiminthang Lenthang, MCS, CEO ADC Chandel attended the programme as presidium members respectively. Upa Ng Benithan, President SUR (Monsang Tribe Union) Upa Ng Maipakngam, Chairman Sirti Eruwng Ruh (Monsang Chief Association), Sapa Ng Lawrence President STS (Monsang Naga Students’ Union) and tribe women leaders also attended the programme among others.

Speaking on the occasion, additional deputy commissioner Chandel and CEO ADC Chandel appreciated Manipur State Commision for Women for organizing such important event to enhance the capacity building of women vendors of Japhou Bazar in particular. Chairperson and members of the MSCW emphasises on financial independence as one of the most important aspects of women empowerment. Ecomomic and financial empowerment will make women socially and politically strong, they mentioned.

It may be mentioned that more than 100 women traders and vendors cutting across different communities and ages from Japhou Bazar, Chandel district headquarters attended the programme.

The technical session was attended by Chongtham Chhatrajit Singh, Branch Manager, SBI Chandel, Yumnam Indrakumar Singh, Assistant Commisioner of Taxes, GoM and Henry Potsangbam, Head SEMT GoM as resource persons. They spoke on the topics related to banking, e-commerce and GST related laws and taxes. It was followed by interaction and discussion session.
