One death pushes Manipur COVID-19 fatality tally to 372

Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality tally rose to 372 with the death of a 47-year-old man diagnosed with the viral disease on Wednesday.

The patient who hailed from Chandel district expired at Shija hospital, Imphal, said a release of COVID-19 Common Control Room today.

Meanwhile, nine fresh cases of COVID-19 reported in the past 24 hours pushed the state’s total infection to 29,086 including 3,425 CAPF personnel. The tally included 28,603 recoveries.

Amongst the nine fresh cases, two each were from Imphal West, Thoubal and Churachandpur district and one each from Imphal East, Bishnupur and Chandel.

The total recoveries included nine patients who were discharged today after they recovered from the viral disease. The active case declined to 111 including 11 CAPF personnel.
The recovery rate of the state also improved to 98.33%.

Meanwhile, with the inoculation of a total of 1133 healthcare workers on Wednesday, the total number of people vaccinated with Covidsheild vaccine in the state rose to 5,872, which is 57.77% of the targeted beneficiaries of 7,310 in the first phase.

Healthcare workers were the beneficiaries of the first phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive in that state which commenced on January 16 last.
