Two deaths in 24 hours bring Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality to 369

Two deaths in the last 24 hours took Manipur’s COVID-19 fatality tally to 369 on Friday.
COVID-19 Common Control Room, in a statement, stated that two male patients expired at RIMS and Shija hospitals respectively.

The cumulative number of deaths increased to 369, it added.

In the past 24 hours (till 4pm of January 22), 15 persons from the general population were confirmed as new COVID-19 positive cases in the state, taking the total number of infections in the state to 28,953. The total infection included 3,419 CAPF personnel.

Of the 15 new positive cases, five were from Imphal West, three from Thoubal, two each from Kangpokpi and Churachandpur, and one each from Imphal East, Bishnupur and Chandel. 

Discharge of 36 patients after they recovered from the disease pushed the cumulative number of recoveries in the state 28,387 including 3,407.

Now, the state has only 197 active cases, out of which eight were CAPF personnel. The recovery rate of the state stood at 98.04%.

Meanwhile, a total of 1,252 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the last 24 hours. The total number of samples tested in the state stood at 5,03,678 on Friday.
