‘One People, One Destiny’: Naga Solidarity Walk beyond boundaries to kick off on July 28

Kohima: The Global Naga Forum (GNF) in collaboration with various Naga civil organizations including student unions from across and cutting beyond the borders of Nagaland state is organizing Naga Solidarity Walk under the theme One People, One Destiny.

The Naga Solidarity Walk is scheduled to begin in Kohima cross Angami territory, Mao territory, Maram territory, Poumai territory on July 28 and will converge in Senapati (Tahamzam) on July 29.

As per the press release note from the Global Naga Forum and Coordination Committee, the objective of Naga Solidarity Walk is to celebrate Nagas being together. The walk will help bridge the divisions and boundaries – physical and regional, ideological and political, tribal and gender. It will be a joyous culture enactment of Naga sisterhood and brotherhood reinforcing community bonds as a people across the states in India and Northwest Myanmar as well as Nagas across the world.

Responding to this clarion call for Naga Solidarity Walk 2022, many frontal organizations have extended the support to participate and show the oneness of Nagas from across the borders.

The Naga Solidarity Walk will flag off at Kohima at Lerie at 6 AM on July 28.

  1. All walkers to carry their own sleeping bags and toiletries.
  2. Mini-trucks to carry sleeping bags, ruck sacks, etc… will be provided.
  3. Foods, refreshments and lodgings has been arranged.
  4. Medical teams has been arranged.
  5. Buses for return journey back to Kohima has been arranged.

    Walk itinerary for July 28 & July 29

    July 28
  • 6 AM, light breakfast and flag off at Lerie Junction.
    Breakfast at Phesama
  • Lunch at Viswema
  • Night halt at Maram

    July 29
  • 6:00 AM, breakfast and push off from Maram
  • Lunch at Karong
  • 12:30 PM (tentative), convergence at Senapati

    GNF reminded all participants that Naga Solidarity Walk it is a peaceful walk. The organizers request the walkers not to indulge in any form of violence.

    The organizers while appealing all Nagas to rise up to the occasion cutting across the borders to join the walk to assert that we are One people and we have One destiny, also reminded that all effort must be made to prevent any untoward incidents.
