One store in Tamenglong given ‘Shut Shop’ order for selling unhygienic food

A team lead by Executive Officer, Autonomous District Council (ADC), Small Town Committee, Ningthungpou Panmei on Monday inspected Ema Variety Store, a tea cum eatery stall in Tamenglong headquarters dealing with popular Manipuri snacks, bora, singju and other fast foods items.

Ema Variety Store, during the inspection was found to have been running under unhygienic environment and the fast food items served were extensively inappropriate for human consumption.

While inspection, it was discovered that even the vegetables used in making singju were found rotten and unfit for consumption.

The inspection was carried out after nine people who ate singju from the store complained of diarrhea and vomiting after consuming the food items from the stall.

The Small Town Committee team also found that ice cream sold in this store were found without manufacturing date. The store was given Shut down order to be effective till 18th April 2021.
