One Suspended in Manipur Heavy Fuel Spillage Case

Imphal: DGM of the Generation Division at Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL), Th Tina Devi, has been suspended in connection with the recent incident of heavy fuel leakage in Manipur.

An office order issued by Ng Subhachandra Singh, Managing Director, MSPCL, Manipur on January 13 stated that the Power Department, Government of Manipur has conveyed that Th Tina Devi, DGM, Generation Division of MSPCL has been found to be irresponsible in her duty in the recent incident of spillage of fuel from the Heavy Fuel Based Power Plant, Leimakhong and that a disciplinary proceeding is contemplated against her. Now, therefore, under Rule 10(1)(a) of the CCS (CCA) Rules 1965 and in pursuance of Power Department letter No.18/1//2024-Power-PD dated January 13, 2024, the above personnel is placed under suspension with immediate effect and until further orders.

The order also stated that during the suspension period, the headquarter of Th Tina Devi shall be the headquarter of the concerned Division and she shall not leave the station without obtaining permission from the competent authority. 

It may be mentioned that the Home Department, Government of Manipur constituted a Committee on January 11 to make a detailed inquiry into the reported incident of leakage of oil from the Heavy Fuel Power Station at Leimakhong. Thecommittee consists of Ashutosh Kumar Sinha, IPS ADGP (Int) Manipur as Chairman, Dr Shailesh Kumar Chaurasia, IAS, Commissioner-cum-Secretary (Power), GoM as member and M. Pradip Singh, IPS, Additional Secretary (Home), Government of Manipur as Member Convenor. 

The Committee is to submit its report to the Government within 15 days’ time.
