PBC Christmas football tournament 2021 held

Ukhrul: The final match of Phungyo Baptist Church Christmas football tournament 2021, men’s senior was played today between Meizailung and Rarsomtang at Mini Stadium, Ukhrul district. The categories this year included Junior, Sub-Junior, Women and Senior.

In the sixteen Senior teams, Meizailung won the match against Rarsomtang 2-0.

Out of the eight teams which participated in Junior title, Wino tang clinched the title while Kasomtang was placed Runners up.

Of the four teams in Women category, Wino tang won against Awontang.

Five teams participated in the Sub-Junior category. Greenland won against Luiyainaotang.

Maya Angkang, Secretary PBC, football committee told this reporter that today’s audience and fans at the Christmas football tournament 2021 was well received. He further said, “According to me, yesterday’s semi-final match between Viewland Zone II and Meizailung was more competitive. There could have been more teams in Women and Junior categories but this year due to school session ending later than usual, a lot could not turn up”, he added.

Cash prize amount of Rs 35,000 and Rs 25,000 was awarded to Senior winners and Runners up; Rs 30,000 and Rs 20,000 to Junior; Rs 25,000 and Rs 15,000 to Sub-Junior; Rs 10,000 and Rs 7,000 to Women Cetegory.

The tournament ended with flag dehoisting by Leimah Hongray, Deacon PBC and closing prayer by Rev. Zaklei Kaping, Pastor PBC.

PBC Christmas football tournament is played every year which usually starts around the 2nd week of December and ends on New year day.
