PM Modi Inaugurates India’s First Nature-Themed Airport Terminal in Guwahati

UKHRUL: The new terminal building of Lokapriya Gopinath Bardoloi International Airport in Guwahati was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday (December 20).

According to officials, it is India’s first nature-themed airport and has been designed to handle 13.1 million passengers annually.
Spread over 1.4 lakh square metres, the terminal blends modern technology with Assam’s cultural and ecological identity.

PTI reported it was designed by Indian architects, drawing inspiration from the State’s rich biodiversity and heritage.
The bamboo-inspired interiors use around 140 metric tonnes of locally sourced northeast bamboo, highlighting sustainability and passenger comfort.
