PM Modi Virtually Launches Multiple Projects for Manipur, Other NE States

Imphal: Under the ambitious Vikshit Bharat Vikshit North East initiative, Prime Minister Narendra Modi unveiled projects worth Rs. 55,600 crores for six North East States, including Manipur, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, and Arunachal Pradesh. The grand unveiling took place from Itanagar, Arunachal Pradesh, on Saturday, marking a significant stride towards regional development.

The development projects span various sectors crucial for the socio-economic advancement of the region, including rail, road, health, housing, education, border infrastructure, IT, power, oil, and gas. Notably, Prime Minister Modi also dedicated the Sela Tunnel to the nation, a monumental achievement in enhancing connectivity in the region. Additionally, he launched the UNNATI scheme, a transformative initiative with an estimated value of around Rs. 10,000 crore.

In Manipur, a series of projects totaling approximately Rs. 3,500 crore were inaugurated and had their foundation stones laid. Among the highlights, foundation stones were laid for 36 projects with a total investment of around Rs. 1,748 crore, while 45 projects amounting to approximately Rs. 1,703 crore were inaugurated. The newly inaugurated projects encompass various sectors, including infrastructure, water supply, craft and handloom, and national highways. Notable among them are the Imphal-Moreh and Imphal-Jiribam National Highway projects, aiming to bolster connectivity and facilitate trade and commerce in the region.

Addressing the virtual inauguration and foundation stone-laying ceremony at the City Convention Centre in Imphal, Chief Minister N Biren expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Modi for his unwavering commitment to the development of the North East States. He underscored the transformative impact witnessed in the region since Narendra Modi assumed office as Prime Minister, emphasizing the significant strides made in infrastructure, connectivity, and overall socio-economic growth.
