KOHIMA: PM SHRI Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV), Kohima,on Saturday organised an outreach programme highlighting ShakthiSAT, the world’s first all-women-led space mission celebrating the vital role of girls in science, technology, and space research.
The programme was graced by Deenabandhu Panda, Additional Director, Department of School Education, Nagaland, as the chief guest.
Addressing the gathering, Panda lauded the initiative and encouraged students, particularly girls, to dream big and actively engage in scientific and academic pursuits.
He emphasised the vision of Viksit Bharat, stating that collective efforts are essential to achieve a developed India by 2047.

He also described Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas as among the best schools in the country for nurturing talent and innovation.
Highlighting India’s achievements in space science, Panda spoke about ISRO’s remarkable journey since its establishment in 1969 and its significant contributions, including the Chandrayaan missions.
He encouraged students to pursue innovative ideas beyond imagination and congratulated the 21 students selected for the ShakthiSAT mission, urging them to remain committed to their future careers.
The event commenced with a warm welcome address by students, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp by the principal and invited guests.

Cultural presentations showcasing India’s rich diversity added colour to the programme, featuring a Naga folk song, Assamese dance, Rajasthani folk dance, Madhya Pradesh folk dance, and a Manipuri folk song, performed by students from various classes.
A key highlight of the programme was an opening presentation on Mission ShakthiSAT by Wing Commander Jaya Tare, who also felicitated the guests. Students selected for the mission shared inspiring testimonials, motivating their peers to pursue careers in science, technology, and innovation.
It was noted with pride that over 21 girl students from Nagaland have been selected for the ShakthiSAT mission, marking a significant achievement for the state.
The programme concluded with a closing address by Avanti Fellows.
