SHILLONG: East Khasi Hills police have initiated an inquiry after a series of allegations surfaced on social media accusing a Shillong youth of sexual exploitation, intimidation, and blackmail.
The widely shared post allege that the accused sexually exploited multiple young women over several years. It also claims that the victims were threatened with the release of intimate videos and recordings to silence them and prevent them from speaking out.
The viral allegations further state that one of the women became pregnant, while others were allegedly manipulated, coerced, and emotionally exploited. The posts have triggered strong public reactions online, with many demanding a comprehensive investigation and justice for the alleged victims.

Although the allegations are serious, police said no formal complaint has been lodged by any of the alleged victims so far. East Khasi Hills Superintendent of Police Vivek Syiem confirmed that authorities have nevertheless taken cognisance of the social media posts and begun making preliminary inquiries.
Syiem said on Monday that police have identified the individual featured in the viral posts and have begun looking into the allegations, although no FIR has been registered as the alleged victim has yet to file a formal complaint.
