Poll materials for Presidential elections arrive in Manipur

Imphal: Election materials including ballot papers for the elections of the President of India arrived in Imphal on Wednesday.

The poll-related materials were deposited at the strong room of the Manipur Assembly secretariat.

The 16th Presidential election will be held on July 18 to elect the next President of India.

The counting of votes will take place on July 21.

Two candidates, Yashwant Sinha, former BJP leader, common candidate of UPA and other opposition parties and ruling NDA’s common candidate Draupadi Murmu are in the fray for the highest constitutional post.

“Election materials for the 16th Presidential Election arrived safely today at Imphal and were moved to the Strong Room at the Assembly Secretariat. All preparations for the smooth conduct of the poll to be held on 18 July 2022 have been undertaken,” the Manipur chief electoral officer (CEO) said in a tweet.

In respect of Manipur, the 60 members of the state Assembly, two members of the Lok Sabha and one member of the Rajya Sabha are voters of the presidential election.
