Power Outages Hit Ukhrul and Kamjong Districts Amid Heavy Rains

Ukhrul, May 31: The Manipur State Power Company Limited (MSPCL) said in a press note issued on Saturday that the inclement weather, marked by strong winds and torrential rains, has caused extensive electrical faults, including fallen power poles.

Widespread power disruptions have affected major parts of Ukhrul and Kamjong districts following several days of heavy rainfall and flooding.

Transmission Sub-Division No. VIII, said that the 33kV transmission lines originating from the 132/33kV Hundung substation and supplying areas such as Kamjong, Phungyar, and Nungbi are among those severely impacted.

MSPCL has already commenced restoration work, but the company said that full restoration of the 33kV lines will take several more days. “The inconvenience caused to the general public is highly regretted,” the statement added.
