Preshaw Shimray inaugurates Phungcham Luita Phanit, urges youth to preserve rich culture

The former deputy speaker of Manipur Legislative Assembly was speaking at Phungcham Luita Phanit as inaugural chief guest who was given a rousing reception by the villagers. Preshaw expressed his appreciation to the villagers for preserving the rich culture passed down by the forefathers while urging youths of the day to made honesty, hard work and kindness as their brand.

Phungcham village in North of Ukhrul district began its much revered and valued Luita Phanit, a seed sowing festival here today which was marked by rich cultural display with young and old alike joining the festive mood in full traditional attires.

Speaking at the occasion, MK. Preshaw Shimray, former deputy speaker Manipur legislative assembly who was accompanied by Thothing Kashung, president BJP Ukhrul district, Bejoy Shatsang, Chingai Mandal president and well wishers, said Phungcham was a cultural, traditional and custom abounds village. It had all the laws of the forefathers. “The native of Raphei regions were revered by other people for its simplicity, hospitality and helping hand gestures.

Jordan Pheirei, advocate attended as the inaugural guest of honour, while Lawthing Khaleng, UDC Mao Maram high school, Senapati district and Kapangsing Horam, social worker will be the chief guest and guest of honour of Luita Phanit valedictory program respectively.

As part of the event, Alice Horam, Wungva Phungcham initiated the act of ploughing and seed sowing and urged the assembled to seek God’s blessings for bounty harvest as this year seeds shows sign of insects infestation.

While appreciating the elders for keeping alive our rich culture and identity, Preshaw Shimray lamented the care free attitude display by today’s youth in regards to not maintaing the same and urged them to preserve our culture before adding, I was here to re-ignite the loss vigour and and urged our youth to get back to its roots by restoring our culture and identity.

Talking about Prime Minister Modi and Chief Minister Biren led BJP government intention to bring self – sufficient in the country, he said, sabka sath, sabka vikas, sabka vishwas (meaning together with all, development for all, the trust of all) was BJP’s slogan.

He said Ukhrul district witness massive returnees where some of them have gone to cities but many are still remaining here. “Taking care of the returnees is our utmost responsibility and for which the door is wide open for them to avail assistance. ” There is no limit in Government’s budget. All you need to do is to submit the project which you wants to carried out. “

Government is all out to rendered help so that you would be helping someone tomorrow, Shimray added.

Welcoming one and all to the grand celebration of Phungcham Luita phanit, Wungnaongam Horam headman Phungcham wished the people peace, harmony and fruitful year.

The day’s program began with opening prayer by Soreiwung Ahum, evangelist, SDA Phungcham and ended with prayer pronounced by Khamching Zimik, VA.
