UKHRUL: Khangkhui Phungdhar, a village in the northeastern region of Ukhrul is a wide stretch of land home to rich wildlife and natural resources. With the collective interest of protecting the forest and preserving its biodiversity, the Khangkhui Phungdhar Students’ Union (KPSU) adopted resolutions-cum-orders which shall come into effect from April 2026.

KPSU has ordered that hunting and poaching in the forest areas under the jurisdiction of Khangkhui Phungdhar Village shall remain prohibited until 2031. Hunting tools such as airguns, kartos, catapults, and birdlime within the forest area has also been banned. Regarding stays or camping in the forest areas, individuals and groups are required to obtain prior permission from the concerned authority.

KPSU seeks support from the community in implementing the mentioned resolutions and has encouraged individuals to assist in reporting or bringing such matters to the notice of the authority. KPSU warned that in case of non-compliance, appropriate action including fines and other measures may be taken by the authority.
