Underscoring the need to maintain a strong and vibrant society in the Wung Tangkhul Region (WTR), MLA Khashim Vashum appealed the community to set aside differences and built a strong community where the culture of respect for each other is maintained.

He said this referring specifically to disarray observed in the Tangkhul community where cases of clashes between village Authority and Chairmanship is rampant.

Taking a serious note of the situation, he appealed the villagers to honoured the village chiefs upon whom the bedrock of Naga society and its unique history lies while  strongly appealing the village authorities not to remain aloof to the needs of the public by rendering the best that they could.

Khashim said this while delivering his speech as guest of honour at Talui Lewta Phanat (seed sowing festival).

Meanwhile, Angami, principal Chief conservator asked people to preserve forest while urging people to take care of children education.

As part of the festivities, cultural items including folk dance, folk song and tug of wall were carried out with much fanfare.

The program was attended by NPF Executives, forest officers, ADcs members, DFOS and villagers.
