Imphal, Jan 27: The proscribed Revolutionary People’s Front (RPF) on Friday refuted the claim made by Assam Rifles that it had arrested a PLA cadre with drugs.

The Assam Rifles in Manipur on Thursday claimed that one of the two persons nabbed with narcotic drugs in Manipur’s Jiribam district is an active cadre of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).

The Inspector General Assam Rifles (East), in a press release said that Srikona Battalion of Headquarter 21 Sector Assam Rifles under the aegis of IGAR (East) foiled smuggling of heroin powder carried by an active PLA cadre.

According to RPF press release, it said the arrest of a PLA cadre with drugs by Assam Rifles is false information published in Ukhrul Times on January 26.

RPF clarified that the arrested person Sairem Basanta Singh, alias Angamba is an individual, a stooge banished from RPF. It maintained that Angamba is someone who is living off through the benevolence provided by government’s Home Coming Policy under Assam Rifles.

Revolutionary People’s Front further questioned the GoM on how the drug drama played out by security forces, especially by Assam Rifles would contribute to the War on Drugs initiative of the government.
