Rifleman Murder: Chandel Police Arrest Accused Couple After Intense Manhunt

Chandel, September 1: Chandel District Police have successfully arrested two prime accused in connection with Chandel Police Station FIR No. 3(8)2025 CDL-PS U/S 105(3)(5) BNS.

The FIR was registered on Friday (August 29, 2025) following the death of Rifleman No. 01123610 As. Rejoyson (29 yrs), S/o As. Marah Tangkhul of Soland Village, Chandel District.

After receiving a written complaint from the victim’s sister, As. Thangrila, immediate investigation was taken up, the Chandel Police said. The victim, who was posted at 2nd MR, Imphal, was assaulted near Women Market, Chandel, on August 29, 2025, around 3:00 pm and later succumbed to his injuries at District Hospital, Chandel.

Based on credible leads, the two main accused persons were arrested and identified as Tensubam Premkumar Ravi (34 yrs), S/o Tensubam Kirani and Kiran of Naharub Makhapat, Porompat, Imphal East District, and Yengkhom Ichantombi (27 yrs), W/o Tensubam Premkumar of Naharub Makhapat, Porompat, Imphal East District.

Following continuous and extensive search operations over the past three days by the Chandel Police Station team and Chakpikarong Police Station team led by Ts. Chamna Anal, MPS, Additional SP (Ops), Chandel, under the overall supervision of Dharmendra Kumar Tyagi, IPS, Superintendent of Police, Chandel District, the accused were finally traced in the early hours of Monday at Khusophe, Anal Khunou area, approximately 45 km from Chandel District Headquarters, under Chakpikarong Police Station jurisdiction.

Both accused persons were arrested on the spot by the OC Chakpikarong PS and his team and have been brought to Chandel Police Station for further legal action and investigation. Further investigation is underway.
