Road mishap claims two lives, injuring five in Ukhrul district

Road accident claimed two people and injured five in Ukhrul district of Manipur today. 

Reliable sources said the “deceased AS. Lungmila, who was in her mid 50s, died on the spot, while Sirachon, 35, succumbed to her injury” before reaching the hospital. The doctors, however, declared her death upon arrival to the district hospital Ukhrul. 

The unfortunate incident took place at around 9:15 am Monday morning in between Phungcham village and Halang stretch. 

The deceased have been identified as AS. Lungmila wife of AS. Wungpam and KS. Sirachon daughter of KS. Joseph. 

The bolero camper while trying to give free passage to a vehicle Peh bound from the other side developed a brake snag, sources said, citing the caused of accident. 

The Ukhrul bound bolero camper was carrying six passengers and a driver onboard comprised of driver’s daughter Rinchon and son Ninganung; Sirachon’s two siblings identified as Ramreichan and Rinsophy, and Lungmila. They were heading to Ukhrul town from Peh village. 

The vehicle bearing Assam’s registration no. AS02B C9906 was driven by Yangmi. The high- fall impact had seriously injured his leg and hand, sources said. 

The driver and his daughter’s condition is said to be very critical while his son condition was said to be out of danger. The trio were referred to Imphal for further medical treatment. While, Sirachon’s two siblings are undergoing treatment at Leishiphung Christian Hospital Ukhrul. 

The deceased Lungmila is survived by her husband and four children. 

The mortal remains of the two deceased will be taken to Peh village, their native, for the last rites. 

Meanwhile, many have shared their grief and sorrow as they mourned the sad and unfortunate incident.
