Union minister VK Singh says central govt is giving greater attention to North East

Dimapur: General (DR) V.K Singh (Retd), Union Minister of State for Road Transport & Highways and Civil Aviation, Government of India, said that after 2014 the central government gave greater attention to the North East, “and now connectivity is better, and things are moving”. Therefore, he urged the concerned authorities to reach the lower level where the development is poor. He also urged the concerned authorities to ensure that government activity is implemented in quality. 

The Union minister said this while visiting Mon district of Nagaland and had a review meeting of NH projects in Mon district with the district administration and head of offices of Mon district at the DC’s conference Hall Mon on May 1.

The Union minister then said that for development and quality works in the district, local contractors are better as they have more knowledge about the district.  He encouraged them to introduce entrepreneur workshops and train people who want to get into such businesses so that they can take all types of contracts.

There was also an interaction with all the heads of offices and the Minister also visited the District Hospital Mon after the meeting.

S. Phangnon Konyak, Member of Parliament Rajya Sabha warmly welcomed the Union Minister of State, HoOs of Mon district, and expressed gratitude to the Union Minister for his visit to Mon. Temjennaro Longkumer, NCS ADC (HQ) gave a brief description of Mon district. The programme was chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mon, Ajit Kumar Verma.
