According to the RNC-M, there was a tussle between the villagers and the troopers of the Assam Rifles as the villagers did not like the act of the Assam Rifles. Following the tussle, the Assam Rifles resorted to indiscriminate firing, the RNC-M alleged. The Rongmei body also condemned it. But the RNC-M did not mention the reasons for the tussle between the villagers and the 6th Assam Rifles.
