Kohima, September 30: While the state government has been praised for opening 1,176 posts of police constables through an “Open Rally,” the Non-Naga Indigenous Tribes of Nagaland continue to face marginalization, the Rising People’s Party (RPP) said today.
The recruitment notification dated September 30, 2025, specifies that only applicants belonging to the Indigenous Naga Tribes are eligible. The RPP criticized this exclusion, saying it reflects poorly on the state’s policy makers and overlooks the most marginalized communities.

The party pointed out that the issue is part of a larger problem concerning quota distribution in the state. While there is ongoing debate over the Backward Quota, including discussions about review, revocation, suspension, or dilution, very few voices advocate for Non-Naga Indigenous Inhabitants, who, according to the RPP, deserve the quota the most.
The RPP urged the government to ensure that the politics of the majority do not compromise the livelihood and dignity of non-Naga tribal minorities in Nagaland.
