Sangai Festival 2022: Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta to visit Manipur, support state’s handloom and textiles industry

Imphal: Former Miss Universe Lara Dutta Bhupathi will visit Manipur on November 26 and attended the upcoming state-level Sangai festival. This will be her maiden visit to the northeastern state of Manipur.

During her visit, the ‘Houseful’ actor will walk the ramp on designer Robert Naorem’s show as the showstopper at Peace Ground in Churachandpur district.

“To all the lovely people in Manipur, I am really excited and looking forward to coming to Manipur for the first time for the Manipur Sangai Festival. I will be on Churachandpur on the 26 of November to walk as a showstopper for designer Robert Naorem and support the handloom and textile industry of Manipur,” said Lara Dutta in a recorded video posted by designer Naorem on Facebook.

I am super excited and really looking forward to my visit and I really hope to see you all there, she added.

One of the largest festivals of Manipur, this year’s Sangai Festival is scheduled from November 21 to the 30th. And unlike the previous years, this time, the annual tourism extravaganza festival will be held at several venues across the state and expecting tourists from both national and international.

The festival will be inaugurated at the newly-developed Sangai Ethnic Park at Moirang Khunou near Loktak in Bishnupur district. The closing ceremony will take place at Bhagyachandra Open Air Theatre and Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal.
