Ukhrul, April 9: Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth landed at Kamjong Headquarters on Wednesday for a historic two-day visit. The visit aligns with the Prime Minister’s directive, as proposed by DoNER, for Union Ministers and MoS to visit Northeastern states each month.

The visiting Minister was warmly welcomed by Leishiyo Keishing, MLA of 43-Phungyar AC; Rang Peter Rangnamei, Deputy Commissioner of Kamjong District; Ningshem Vashum, SP of Kamjong; Jain Huileng, SDO Kamjong; David Kashungnao, CEO of ADC-Ukhrul; Nimmi Khamrang, SDO Phungyar; and other officials from the district administration at the Kamjong SDO Complex.

The Minister was accompanied by Additional PS Jitendra Nath and PA to MoS Rahul Sharma. On the first day, the Union Minister engaged with the district’s DLOs and SHGs. In the first session, DLOs from 26 departments provided updates on their progress through a PowerPoint presentation. In the second conference, representatives from 35 Kamjong-based SHGs interacted with the Minister.

During the interaction with the DLOs, the Minister lauded the activities undertaken by the One Stop Centre, Kamjong—a centrally sponsored scheme under the Ministry of Women & Child Development, Government of India. He also promised to look into the grievances and fund flow issues of the OSC with the concerned minister.

Union Minister Sanjay Seth will spend the night at the Kamjong District Headquarters. On the second day, he is expected to meet with representatives of local CSOs, although the agenda for this meeting has not been disclosed. This meeting is particularly significant due to the ongoing tensions surrounding the scrapping of the FMR and border fencing. The itinerary also includes visits to nearby sites before his departure for Imphal on Thursday.
