Singer and Rapper Santy Sharma from India has objected to the title of Manoj Bajpayee’s upcoming Netflix Film “Ghooskhor Pandat,” which he claims is disrespectful and inappropriate towards the Brahmin and Pandit Communities.
Santy, who identifies as a Brahmin believes that the use of corruption-related terminology in reference to caste groups sends the wrong message. He suggests that filmmakers should be more responsible in their choice of titles since they can significantly impact community relations.
Santy also questioned the integrity of the producers involved, alleging that the controversial title had not been registered prior to the distribution of promotional materials on digital platforms. In his opinion, this indicates a lack of professionalism and understanding of the potential repercussions associated with such content.
He further stated that the continual targeting of particular communities under the guise of creative freedom could lead to further division between social groups, and he urged the government to implement stricter codes of conduct to avoid similar incidents in the future.
The teaser for Ghooskhor was shown at a Netflix event in Mumbai and immediately came under fire from multiple sources as they were outraged by the title of the film. A lawyer issued a legal complaint claiming that the title of the film was offensive.
Also, an FIR was lodged by the Uttar Pradesh government with the Hazratganj Police in Lucknow. As the protests continued to grow, central authorities instructed Netflix to remove any promotional material for the film, which Netflix complied with.
(Ukhrul Times has not altered the material in any manner. The content is published exactly as received from the original source.)
