Ukhrul: The Sports Association of Ukhrul District (SAUD) in its general body meeting held on Friday unanimously resolved to form an umbrella association of sports for Ukhrul district under the banner of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA).
The general body meeting (GBM) of various sports association registered under the provision of MSR Act, 1989 and the applied sports disciplines for registration under MSR Act, 1989, was held at Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) office located at Wino bazaar, Ukhrul.
The meeting was attended by representatives from 18 sports association functioning in Ukhrul district. It also adopted the following proceedings and the members represented from the 18 sports association operating in Ukhrul district unanimously proposed Chonmi Raleng, vice president of UDSA to chair the meeting and Tennoson Pheiray as the sitting secretary.

The members who were present, after thorough deliberation agreed to form an umbrella association of sports for Ukhrul district under the name of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA).
The meeting then resolved to appoint the following 5 members as Interim body members of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) with Phungchan Raikhan as interim president, Tennoson Pheiray interim secretary; Tharmingam Khangrah, Wungshungmi Hungyo and CS Xavier as interim member respectively.
The “Interim Body” has been empowered to make preparation for election of Executive Councils of Ukhrul District Olympic Association (UDOA) for the tenure 2022-2026 in accordance with the rules and guidelines as enshrine in the Memorandum of Association of Manipur Olympic Association. Once the interim body finalises the schedule and modalities, another GBM will be convened at the earliest for necessary approval and appointment of Election Officers for conducting the said election as per MOA guidelines and in consultation with Manipur Olympic Association.

Chonmi Raleng stated this during the press conference held late on Friday evening at the office of Ukhrul District Sports Association (UDSA) located at Wino Bazaar, Ukhrul.
The general meeting also discussed and resolved to register the society at Deputy Registrar of Societies, Ukhrul District, Manipur under provision of MSR Act, 1989 and also submit this proceedings to the Deputy Registrar of Societies, Ukhrul District, Manipur for favour of kind approval and necessary action, Raleng added.
