SENAPATI: The Senapati District Students’ Association (SDSA) has announced that it will organise the District Level Inter-Institutional Sports Meet 2026 from May 4 to 9, bringing together students from across the district for a week of competition and camaraderie.

Inviting participation, SDSA Games and Sports Secretary H. Puthon Thangal has called on all High Schools, Higher Secondary Schools and Colleges, both government and private, to take part in the event, which will be held at the Astro Turf Ground in Senapati district headquarters.

The association aims to create a platform where students can not only compete but also connect, with an emphasis on sportsmanship and unity. Events lined up include a Half Marathon for both boys and girls, open to all students, along with football (boys), volleyball (boys and girls), and basketball (boys and girls).

According to the organisers, the tournament will be conducted in two categories, High School and Higher Secondary/College levels, to ensure fair competition among participants.

SDSA noted that such initiatives go beyond competition, helping students build teamwork, leadership and confidence, while also encouraging healthy interaction among institutions across the district. It described the meet as an opportunity for young people to showcase their abilities and form lasting friendships.

Teachers have also been urged to motivate students to participate and represent their institutions with enthusiasm.

Registration for the sports meet opened on April 13, while the last date for registration and issuance of player forms has been fixed for April 27. The drawing of fixtures will take place on April 30. The Half Marathon event is scheduled to be held earlier, on May 2.
